Very God,
begotten, not created

O come let us adore Him,

Christ the Lord.

Sing, choirs of angels,
sing in exultation,
Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above;
Glory to God,
In the highest

O come let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.

SILENT NIGHT
Silent night, Holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and child
Holy Infant, so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, Holy night
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia
Christ the Saviour is born!
Christ the Saviour is born.

Silent night, Holy night
Son of God Love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus Lord at thy birth
Jesus Lord at thy birth.

MARY

READING
LUKE 1:26-32a
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favoured one, the Lord is with you!” But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.

MARY'S STORY
PRAYER

O LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM
O little town of Bethlehem
How still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight

O, morning stars together
Proclaim the holy birth
And praises sing to God the King
And peace to men on earth
For Christ is born of Mary
And gathered all above
While mortals sleep the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love

How silently, how silently
The wondrous gift is given
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of His heaven
No ear may hear His coming
But in this world of sin
Where meek souls will Receive Him still
The dear Christ enters in.

O holy Child of Bethlehem
Descend to us, we pray
Cast out our sin and enter in
Be born in us today
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell
O come to us, abide with us
Our Lord Emmanuel

JOY TO THE WORLD
Joy to the world! The Lord has come;
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven and nature sing
And heav'n and heav'n and nature sing

Joy to the world! The Saviour reigns.
Let men their songs employ
while fields and floods,
rocks, hills and plains,
repeat the sounding joy
repeat the sounding joy
repeat, repeat the sounding joy

He rules the world with truth and grace,
and makes the nations prove
the glories of His righteousness
and wonders of His love
and wonders of His love
and wonders, wonders of His love

SHEPHERDS

READING
LUKE 2:8-12
There were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to the Shepherds, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”

THE SHEPHERDS' STORY
PRAYER

ONCE IN ROYAL DAVID'S CITY
Once in royal David's city, stood a lowly cattle shed,
where a mother laid her baby in a manger for His bed.
Mary was that mother mild, Jesus Christ her little child.

He came down to earth from heaven, Who is God and Lord of all,
And His shelter was a stable, and His cradle was a stall;
With the poor and meek and lowly, lived on earth our savior holy.

For He is our childhood pattern, day by day like us he grew
He was little, weak and helpless, tears and smiles, like us he knew
and he feeleth for our sadness, and he shareth in our gladness

And our eyes at last shall see Him, through his own redeeming love.
For that child so dear and gentle, is our Lord in heaven above;
And He leads His children on, to the place where he is gone.

Not in that poor lowly stable, with the oxen standing by,
We shall see Him, but in heaven, set at God's right hand on high;
When like stars His children crowned, all in white shall wait around

O Praise the name of the Lord our God
O Praise his name forever more
For endless days we will sing your praise
O Lord, O Lord our God!

ANGELS

READING
LUKE 2:13-15
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”

THE ANGEL'S STORY
PRAYER

HARK THE HERALD ANGELS SING
Hark! The herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King;
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!"
Joyful, all ye nations rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With th'angelic host proclaim,
"Christ is born in Bethlehem!"

Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Christ, by highest heaven adored;
Christ the everlasting Lord;
Late in time, behold Him come,
Offspring of a virgin's womb.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;
Hail the incarnate Deity,
Pleased as man with man to dwell,
Jesus our Emmanuel.

Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Hail the heaven born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
Risen with healing in His wings.
Mild He lays His glory by,
Born that man no more may die.
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth.

Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King!"

HOLY FOREVER
And the angels cry: Holy
All creation cries: Holy
You are lifted high, holy
Holy forever

Hear your people sing: Holy
To the King of kings, holy
You will always be holy
Holy forever

IN CHRIST ALONE
In Christ alone who took on flesh
Fulness of God in helpless babe
This Cornerstone this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love what depths of peace
When fears are stilled when strivings cease
My Comforter my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

WISE MEN

READING
MATTHEW 2:9b-12
And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

THE ANGEL'S STORY
PRAYER

O HOLY NIGHT
O holy night the stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Saviour's birth
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
Til He appeared and the soul felt it's worth
The thrill of hope the weary soul rejoices
For yonder breaks, a new and glorious morn
Fall on your knees, oh hear the angel voices
O night divine
O night when Christ was born
O night divine, O night, O night divine

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
Over the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
Now come the wisemen from out of Orient land.
The King of kings lay in the lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friend.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King!
And Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King and before Him lowly bend

Truly He taught us to love one another
His law is love and His gospel is peace
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother
And in His name all oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we
Let all within us praise His holy name
Christ is the Lord oh praise His name forever
His power and glory
evermore proclaim
His power and glory evermore proclaim
